Latin Indie-Electro from Cocofunka in “Chúcaro” Music Video

Costa Rican band Cocofunka share the music video for “Chúcaro,” which translates to “Wild,” the title song from their upcoming third album. On their new record, the band collaborated with Columbian producer Felipe Alvarez (Bomba Estéreo, Calle 13) and Costa Rican producer Mario Miranda, which led to a melodic mixture of tropical rhythms and modern electro very reminiscent of Bomba Estéreo. Javier Arce, vocalist of the band, describes the song as having “elements of soca and Caribbean rhythms, sounds that influenced the music in Costa Rica in the 80s wanted to somehow revive the dance texture in them, incorporate it into our obsession to merge sounds and give elegance Psychedelic we seek insistently in every song on the album.” The song’s music video, filmed by Giuseppe Badalamenti, follows a group of seniors who break free from their nursing home and have a night to remember. Watch it below and look out for Cocofunka’s new album out February 26th. The band have also been confirmed for SXSW, catch them in Austin, TX.
